This project projet emerged from a desire to practice presence, listening, writing ,improvisation, body, breath, places within the meeting between musicians from ensemble]h[iatus and dancers from la compagnie les Décisifs.

I want to speak about birth.
Some may say that this subject is to intimate and personal. I believe that it is time to go back to this moment and rediscover what we have to say about birth, what we have to learn and understand about it. Giving birth is an extreme, radical and absolute act that engages all our being even beyond what we know of our bodies and ourselves. Birth is a passage, an initiation for the mother and child, for the couple. It reveals unknown aspects about us. It is a moment of revelation, of reconnection.

I have rediscovered in this project the notion of body-substance as I named it in 2007 following my research for Portraits intérieurs.
For this piece my attention is given to the body sensations of bursting, tearing, pressure, weight, gushing out. On the power and softness of energies and breath.
I’ll also address the notion of ritual.

“Noli me tangere”: don’t touch me, don’t hold me back
Jesus Christ spoke these words to Mary Madeleine when he left the tomb. They are present throughout the piece.
– The issue is related to moving from on plane to another, from a body of flesh to a body of light, from a body of light to a body of flesh, to incarnation, in a moment of transference free of retention…
– «Do not touch what shouldn’t be touched»; Jesus Christ asks Mary Madeleine to trust his vision instead of the material and tangible world. This trust, subtle and true, what is required at birth, allowing one to surrender to the present.
– «Don’t hold me back»; let me go, let me leave, let me be…
– A paradox between the untouched and the immense connection of touch with a newborn.
– On stage the dancer is untouchable.

Clara Cornil hopes to interview men and women to know about their feelings, their expectations, their fears in connection to this event. These discussions will be used as soundtrack.
From this solo, Clara wants to work with women and parents groups and to initiate support and sharing networks.

 This notion, our home, is a mixture of complex and subtle elements, within whom we underline our way of inhabiting someplace and inhabiting ourselves. 
How do I inhabit someplace? 
How do I inhabit myself? 
By focusing on these two questions, we will work on body, voice and sound.
At home, my body doesn’t limit its movements, there is no conscious effort to make signs, actions or reactions. This leads us to the observation that our bodies are different when at home. What would our movements be when we are completely present to ourselves? Where do they stem from? 

Innerthoughts find words of expression and discourse occurs at different speeds. Speed of expression reflects our physical and mental state, and the importance of what will be said. But even when I am not speaking, a flow of words are present within me, they chatter like a constant physical source of energy. 
Poetical writing will stem from these considerations on the reality of the spoken word.

(H)AND(S) is a sensual experience taking the form of a diptych, an installation and a choreographic work.
In the flow of city pedestrians, I took pictures of hands, a corporal element that allows us to perceive the imperceptible signs of daily life or daily exchange. The installation invites the public to walk through a space of pictures of hands taken in  New York, Hanoï, Kinshasa, Kyoto and Cuenca. 
After this experience, the public is invited up on stage to closely observe, listen and feel the physicality of the body and of sounds. The Touch, as a gesture of curiosity and abandonment has been our field of investigation. Firstly an individual exploration, then an approach, a gaze, a contact with and within, finally revealing itself as a powerful energy.
(H)AND(S) is an attempt to build a framework of listening and sharing between the public and the artists.

I like being alone.
To be in silence.
I like to walk.
Three sentences that could be a portrait.
I like the feel of my body as living matter,
Having an organic autonomy from my thoughts, be they related.
I particularly like to listen to the thoughts of my body.
It is another portrait, a portrait of the inside.
How I hold my head – how I hold my face – how I hold my interior features, a portrait is what’s to behold at the surface of internal shifts, the traces of me.
It changes, like a palimpsest of emotions.
An alternative route begins from within from one’s blood. A statement of one’s self.
To become present and emerge discreetly and totally.
